A Picture of Mommy
While we were playing with sidewalk chalk, I commissioned a portrait of myself. Anthony was happy to oblige. Be sure to notice the hair!

A Fish Called Toto
Anthony and I had a great holiday. While Daddy worked, we spent the day at Happy Hollow with Claire and Robert. The highlight, as usual, was the roller coaster.
Tigger was nearly out of cat food, so after a short rest we headed out to the pet store. Anthony admired the fish, as always, and I had a weak moment. Yep, we came home with a red beta fish in a small jar.
Anthony had decided that the fish will be named "Toto Dog". He has also renamed my poor cat Toto. Oh yeah, he insists that she is his dog Toto.
Any bets on how long the poor fish will last?
The picture is of Anthony feeding his new pet, it is his responsibility!

Train Day
Saturday was cold and rainy. A perfect day for "Train Day". We read "This Little Engine that Could" and then went for a train ride to Redwood City to have lunch with Anthony's pal Jack. The plan was good, but it was cold and wet walking downtown from the train station.
We came home to hot chocolate, which Anthony rejected and a gingerbread train to decorate. Anthony really liked decorating his train, especially licking the frosting off and eating the candy.
A note: the train was a hand-me-down from a neighbor who didn't use it at Christmas. I was generally unimpressed with the frosting that came with the kit. It was both too thick to spread easily and not quite sticky enough. Oh well, Anthony was happy with it.

Happy Valentine's Day
Today Anthony happily trucked off to daycare with a big bag of Valentines for his friends. I made homemade marshmallows, cut into hearts on lollipop sticks. Anthony seemed pleased with them and they were yummy. He came home with a BIG bag of goodies from all his daycare pals. Most of the valentines were Cars themed. (This was a repeat of preschool on Thursday except he scored a lot less candy there.)
Daddy came home with flowers, one bunch from Anthony, one from him. Anthony addressed me as "My Sweet" when he gave me mine. I laughed (that's what I call Daddy sometimes), and asked for a kiss. Next thing I knew he was holding both my cheeks and gave me a smooch on the lips!

Audition for Blue Man Group
Anthony is all set for his audition for Blue Man Group.
We went to the Discovery Museum this morning; I thought Anthony would enjoy the storyteller they had performing in the afternoon.
First we spent awhile in the little kid area. We did a lot of sand play and then went to the paint wall. Anthony used the brushes first, then explored fingerpainting. Then he noticed that while has hands were covered with paint, his arms weren't. So he fixed that, making sure to cover every square inch up past his elbows! (He also has it on his shoes, pants and hair.)
After lunch we went over to the water area for awhile. We spent a good 45 minutes there so we didn't make it to the storyteller. Oh well.

Skiing was a Bust
The skiing part of Ciaran's birthday weekend was a bit of a bust. Basically, Anthony wanted nothing to do with the activity, including standing up on his skis. He did enjoy riding the chairlift.
I think the biggest problem (besides being young) was that he was WAY overtired. The plan, which I knew was destined for failure at the outset, was to arrive at 11:30 pm and transfer to bed and sleep through the night. Alas, he woke up around 11 and said bright and cheerily, "Mama, look at the stars." He then sung for awhile. When we got to the cabin I explained to Anthony that everyone else was asleep and we'd go straight to bed quietly so not to wake everyone else. Anthony then said, "But Mama, I thought we were going skiing." Not 'til morning kid. He then woke up early. Not really the best start to the day.
Anthony WILL be in ski school while we're in Colorado. I miss carving up the slopes on my board.
Oh, a special note for our friends in cold places. It was sunny and warm, I think it was 57F!

Fun in the Snow
We spent this weekend in Tahoe celebrating Ciaran's birthday. Skiing wasn't a hit (more on that in a later post), but Anthony just loved the snow.
Saturday afternoon we played by the cabin, sledding, snow ball "fights", and explorations in the woods. At first Anthony didn't want to wear his "glubs", but he discovered pretty quickly that snow was cold and decided that wearing his mittens was okay.
Sunday Ciaran and Sophie went skiing, but Anthony was VERY insistant that he wanted more sledding. We went to a local tubing hill and took turns on the inner-tubes and toboggans. It was a ball. My favorite part was watching Bob haul Anthony up the hill on the sled, singing away, "Ho, ho, ho and ha, ha ha and a couple of tra la las". (We're off to dance the day away in the merry old land of Oz.)
