We spent a lot more time at the resort than I thought we would. We did take one day off to go explore other parts of the island and ended up spending the afternoon at Waimea Bay. While there were no 40 ft waves like that beach sees in the winter, the swells were signficantly stronger than in the lagoon at our hotel. The water was also much deeper, within about 2 feet of the shore it was over his head. Fortunately we had brought Anthony's life vest so he could play safely.Anthony loved playing in the surf. At first he ran from the waves but quickly decided to try and teach himself to body surf. He did great!
