Yep, a picture is worth a thousand words sometimes.
When we first put him down on his tummy, he'll lay there happily for a few minutes. He'll kick his little legs and grunt.
It takes him awhile to get around to trying to lift his head. That's when the screaming starts. We probably don't make him spend enough time on his tummy. I haven't pulled out a protractor yet, but I don't think he'll typically lift his head to 45 degrees yet.

Our son HATED tummy time when he was a baby. He would cry and scream whenever we tried to put him on his tummy. Then I found a GREAT thing...it was this sort of little pillow shaped sort of like a pickle. It came with his "Baby Einstein" play mat. I could prop him up a bit and that made him MUCH happier. I think you can sort of do the same thing with the "Boppy" pillow when they get a little bigger. That tummy time is SO important but you just can't explain that to them when they are babies!
